1. How to Register for Housing  top

Once you have been accepted into the NITE 2008 program, have received your student ID# and PIN you will be able to log onto our convenient and secure web-based registration   Process.
Step 1 Go to http://www.cambridgecollege.edu/residence
Step 2 Enter your student ID#.  This can be found on the top right corner of your acceptance letter.
Step 3 You will be entered into a series of forms to complete.  The first will be a verification of all your personal information.  Make sure this is all correct; this information will be used by the Housing Office to make contact with you and provide you ongoing necessary information.

You will continue through to complete your Housing Request form, Medical History, Medical Needs, Payment Options and finally your Transportation form.  When you get to the Transportation form make sure to have your flight information handy (if applicable) and estimated arrival time to campus.

After you have completed your online registration for housing you will receive a confirmation via email to confirm that we have received your request.  If you are missing any information we will let you know with in this notification.

On March 15th we will begin to send out your actual room assignments.  In this packet we will send you the name and type of your residence hall and whether you will have a double occupancy or if a request for a single has been granted.  Also enclosed will be color coded luggage tags.  These are to be placed on each piece of your luggage with full name, ID# and a contact phone#.  The color will identify your appropriate residence hall.

2. Housing & Travel Policies  top

Summer Housing
Living and dining with educators from many states and other countries is an unparalleled opportunity to exchange ideas, educational perspectives, and methods. Residence with these new friends will enhance your classroom learning. This is an essential and rich dimension of the Cambridge College summer educational experience. Therefore, summer residence on-site is required for all NITE students (optional for Massachusetts students).

This section outlines housing policies and facilities you may expect in your summer residence. Cambridge College students are expected to abide by all policies and procedures of our host college.

Residence Halls & Rooms
Residence hall rooms are plain and basic, with double occupancy; bathrooms are shared. There are no private bathrooms on campus.  Cambridge College and our host site try to accommodate our students’ basic needs as much as possible, but cannot provide all the comforts of home or meet all needs.

Room assignments - Rooms are assigned on a first-come-first-served basis. Priority is given to students with certain medical conditions requiring such features as wheel-chair access, or single occupancy. A written letter from your physician is required at least a month before check-in day if you require these accommodations. There are very few single rooms; priority must be given to students with medical needs.

Room Changes and Refunds — If, after having arranged for room and board on-site, a change of plans becomes necessary, the College must receive your written request no later than one calendar month before check-in day. No changes or refunds will be made after you arrive on campus.

No spouses, children, or significant others are allowed on site (host college campus or any other facilities Cambridge College may use) unless they are enrolled in a Cambridge College program. Married couples may share a room only if both are enrolled.

Please make arrangements for child care off-site, as children are not allowed on-site at any time. Parents/ guardians are responsible for child care and supervision at all times.

No pets of any kind are allowed in the rooms or on-site.

Cleaning — Students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms. If the room or suite has a bathroom within the suite, the students are responsible for cleaning it.

Damage and loss — Students will be charged for the cost of all damage to rooms, including lost room keys and clean-up of smoke.

Early Arrival
Students arriving the day before check-in must arrange and pay for their own accommodations. Discounts may be available at selected local hotels. Before you depart, call the NITE Housing Office at 1-800-877-4723 ext. 1175 for current information, or go to the NITE website and click on Housing and Travel.

Off-Site Housing
Out-of-state students with extenuating circumstances may request from the Housing Director for written permission to stay off-site and commute to the summer classes and activities. Please email your request to residence@cambridgecollege.edu. Only medical and family reasons will be considered; documentation is required. You must make your own arrangements for housing, transportation, and payment. Cambridge College is exempt from all liability for students who stay off-site.

Commuting — Students staying off-site are responsible for their own transportation to the place they are staying, and for daily transportation to and from the host site. (Local Cambridge College students taking summer courses are responsible for their own transportation.)

Financial aid — After students have paid for offsite accommodations, the cost may be reimbursed with a federal student loan. Documentation is required by the Financial Aid Office before a loan may be written:
• Off-site housing approval letter signed by the Housing Office.
• Proof from an off-site agency of rental paid.
• The printed receipt must show the amount paid, date, and student’s name.

Please remember that all students are required to stay on campus unless they get written permission to stay off-campus. Only medical and family reasons will be considered. For more information contact the Housing Office at 1-800-877-4723 ext. 1175 or residence@cambridgecollege.edu

Residential Services & Activities

Cafeteria & Meal Plan
The meal plan is included in the room and board charge and is not optional. All students on the meal plan may eat in the cafeteria: three meals are served daily Monday-Friday, on Saturday and Sunday a morning brunch and an evening meal are served. Meal times will be available in your Welcome Booklet upon arrival as well as posted in the cafeteria.

If a special diet is required for medical reasons (e.g. food allergies, diabetes), a detailed written request from your physician is required for us to accommodate you within reason. Some vegetarian diets may be accommodated; weight-loss diets cannot be accommodated.

The meal plan is optional for commuting students.  If students eat outside the cafeteria, they are responsible for the cost.

Health & Medical Concerns
Cambridge College is for working adults; students are responsible for their own medical and health care. During the Summer Institute a registered nurse is on duty at our host site to provide limited health care services. Hours will be available in your Welcome Booklet upon arrival as well as posted in the cafeteria. Cambridge College does not provide any other medical or health care services.

Medical care — Please check with your home physician and arrange for any medical care needed during the Summer Session.

Prescription medications and medical supplies — Bring in your carry-on bag at least five weeks’ supply. (Do not ship or put in checked luggage.)

Personal Expenses
Personal checks — Cambridge College and our host college accept personal checks for payments (driver’s license and student ID required). However, neither college cashes personal checks. Local banks cash travelers checks and provide ATM machines. They do not cash out-of-state personal checks.

The College is not responsible for activities and trips organized by students.
